THE COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS JUSTICE CENTER

The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center is a national nonprofit organization that provides practical, nonpartisan, research-driven strategies and tools to increase public safety and strengthen communities. The CSG Justice Center works closely with legislative leaders, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, victim advocates, and others to develop consensus on various criminal justice issues and to translate this consensus into comprehensive reports, policy briefs, state and federal legislation, model policies, and innovative programs. The CSG Justice Center develops written and web-based materials, conducts complex data analysis, and provides on-the-ground technical assistance to policymakers and practitioners from multiple systems (corrections, behavioral health, law enforcement, etc.), in state and local jurisdictions.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Web Producer works with the Communications Division to help maintain quality and consistency across the CSG Justice Center's various digital properties, such as csgjusticecenter.org, cleanslateclearinghouse.org and stepuptogether.org.

It is the Associate Web Producer's role to manage and track many concurrently running digital projects using software such as Jira, Asana and Trello.

The role also requires some hands-on editing in the WordPress CMS, and involves some light HTML and CSS coding. The Associate Web Producer ensures that deadlines are met, and respond to daily requests and emails politely, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities of the Associate Web Producer include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Project managing several digital projects at once;
  • Monitoring project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure that deadlines and responsibilities to senior staff and partners are met;
  • Wordpress editing, HTML and CSS coding;
  • Publishing content and assisting with text, photographs, graphics or video placement; and
  • Collaborating with colleagues and consultants to develop digital strategies that promote CSG Justice Center goals.

  • Strong organizational skills and efficient work style;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines;
  • Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technology requirements in an accessible way;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting;
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technology.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of two years of related professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Essential:

  • A solid understanding of Wordpress;
  • A solid understanding of HTML and CSS coding;
  • A good knowledge of web best practices; and
  • A basic understanding of Github.

 

Preferred:

  • A basic facility with Javascript coding;
  • A basic understanding of Google Analytics;
  • A basic understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud; and
  • A basic understanding of SEO.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

An undergraduate degree in a related field.
