To learn more about CSG please visit our website at We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist (internal title will be Payroll Analyst II).

This opportunity is based in our Lexington, KY office but offers flexibility to work from home part of the work week.


We are looking for a service-oriented professional who will play a major role on the finance team and serve as a model of CSG values. The Payroll Analyst I will be responsible for supporting, developing and improving processes for our multi-state payroll. Our ideal candidate will have an analytical mind, a growing knowledge of payroll compliance and practices, be a team player, avid learner and a champion of diversity.


  • Process semimonthly payroll including timesheet reviews and audits, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Support management in achieving the organization's payroll processing objectives and will serve as a point person for best practices.
  • Independently maintain the payroll general ledger, new hire setups, ad hoc reporting, garnishment processing, system calculations, employee updates and terminations.
  • Research and respond to employee inquiries, ensuring high levels of service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on special projects such as updating existing payroll process documentation, creating employee timesheet FAQ guide, and payroll system testing.
  • Analyze current process and procedures and participate in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.


  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse people in different contexts and foster equity and inclusion through self-awareness, cultural sensitivity, and valuing others.
  • Dedication to public service with an unfailing commitment to act with civility, be nonpartisan in performing CSG duties, and be a responsible steward of member and donor funds.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office to perform calculations and analyze data with attention to detail.
  • A working knowledge of payroll including garnishments, bonus payments, and payroll taxes for US (required).
  • The ability to learn and adapt to changing technology and processes.
  • Strong customer skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both verbal and written).
  • Well organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Good time management skills; able to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting and basic journal entries.


  • Proven payroll experience of at least three years with a preference for experience with a multi-state, in-house payroll that interfaces with a complex general ledger.


CSG believes that pay equity and pay transparency advance workplace fairness. Compensation will be equitable and based on experience. The salary range for this position, based in Lexington, KY, is $48,000 to $60,000. This salary range is subject to change based on work location and market conditions.
