JOB SUMMARY 

This is a senior level position in the finance and accounting department. The senior accountant will work closely with the finance/accounting and legal staffs to administer all contract and grants-related issues.  The position will support the functional areas including, but not limited to: funding information; regulatory compliance; proposal preparation and processing; award acceptance; monitoring of expenditures; accrual reports; post-award administration; project accounting; cost analysis and compliance. The candidate must be able to provide compliance and finance support and mentoring for operations, and program staff throughout the sponsored projects performance periods.  The CSG sponsored projects portfolio consists of over 20 million dollars in grants from approximately 11 federal agencies as well as numerous foundations and private funders.  The successful candidate will have excellent organization and administrative skills to manage a diverse portfolio of grants and sponsored projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide overall technical and administrative leadership in the areas of financial management and grants management for all CSG and CSG affiliate sponsored projects.
  • Developing, implementing and administering all aspects of grants and contracts including compliance monitoring and financial reporting.
  • Analyzing and performing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation of accounts and financial records.
  • Representing CSG as the primary contact for federal agencies on federal grants and contracts regarding audits and inquiries from granting agencies.
  • Acting as the liaison on budget issues between federal employees and CSG program managers.
  • Administering the preparation of contract and grant proposal applications with CSG program managers.
  • Providing final approval of contract, subrecipients, and grant proposals prior to submission to contractors, granting authorities, and agencies.
  • Recordkeeping of all grants and restricted contracts to ensure compliance with CSG policies and related federal, state, private, and foundation guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all funder reporting requirement deadlines and schedules are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitoring and approving expenditures during the term of sponsored programs.
  • Preparing and completing CSG's annual indirect cost proposal and submitting to the applicable cognizant agency.
  • Preparing auditor requested documents and schedules to successfully complete CSG's and CSG affiliated organizations' Single Audit per Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200.
  • Developing and implementing improved systems for reporting and communicating financial information.
  • Other duties as assigned by the chief financial officer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Current CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing federal grants in a not-for-profit, university, government or related environment.
  • Working knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200: Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards
  • Strong data collection, problem-solving and analytic skills.
  • Capability to juggle competing priorities, meet demanding deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively within a complex structured team.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.
